Last Friday concluded my incredible honor of being the featured artist at Urban Light Studios during their last 2 Phinneywood Artwalk events. The beautiful venue has been a long-loved establishment in the Greenwood community for weddings, special events, photograph shoots, artwalks and many other occasions, so it was my great privilege to have a solo showcase in such a gorgeous setting before they close their doors.
Almost my entire body of available works were showcased during the event, so I had the unique opportunity to see them hung in a variety of gallery rooms in the building. May’s 2-night Opening Reception had a stunning backdrop of rustic brick walls, split between the upper level gallery and the downstairs gallery. Apparently around 500 people turned out for the Friday night opening (I was out of town until early Saturday), and Saturday’s showing (while smaller), was also well received. Here are a few photos from the opening weekend.
This past Friday evening’s Encore Reception went even better than I could have dreamed! For the final showing, my work was displayed across the hall in the Auxiliary Gallery. I loved how intimate the space was! I really got to connect with everyone who came out for the evening – it seemed like even the unexpected rain couldn’t get people’s spirits down. I was absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of love and support shown by all who attended. Three of my paintings and several prints found forever homes!! I am truly touched and am overjoyed that they will be loved in their new surroundings!
Many thanks to all of the kind and beautiful people I had the pleasure of speaking with during the evening. Your enthusiasm of my work truly touched my heart. A HUGE thank you to Urban Light Studios for the lovely setting, Braden for curating this amazing opportunity and as always Sean for being by my side (and my extra set of hands) throughout all of this! I could not have done it without you. While the new blank spots on my walls tug on my heartstrings a little, they en kindle my inspiration to create new beautiful things to put in their place!! My heart is grateful!!!
